NC’s 10-4 yard/pass play is indicative of that improvement and it should bode well for the Heels as they take on an underperforming Virginia team coached by beleaguered Al Groh. The Cavaliers have a decent defense and they should be close in this one for most of the game, but their inconsistent offense will undermine them again in front of hostile fans. The key stat here is that Virginia is just 11-23 ATS on the road (which includes 6-21 ATS under Groh). The Cavs are clearly shaken outside their surroundings, so look for the Tar Heels to claim victory. THE CHOICE: North Carolina (-3)
VIRGINIA TECH (-21) AGAINST. Ohio: The big news for Tech is the insertion of announced freshman QB Tyrod Taylor in place of struggling Sean Glennon. The move was one that Hokies coach Frank Beamer simply couldn’t wait any longer as the 0-2 start destroyed all thoughts of a national championship season. Taylor, however, is very talented and has the mix of speed and arm strength to spur the Hokies to a great win over a weak Ohio offensive team. Tech is also 38-16-1 ATS at home as an under-25 favorite, including 18-3 against non-conference foes. Go with the Hokies based on that trend with the spark of being home with a new QB. THE CHOICE: Virginia Tech (-21)
